Robert Sax, Head Coach and Owner
I'm from Portland, Maine- born and raised. Went to Springfield College in western Massachusetts and got my Bachelors in Science in Exercise Science and have my CrossFit Level One, CrossFit Football, and CrossFit Kids Certification. I moved up to Seattle right after I graduated because I heard it was a great place to live, and two years later, I owned a CrossFit gym and am a part of the greatest community of people that I could ever possibly imagine.
I love CrossFit workouts. They're much better and different than anything I've ever done before. Having constantly varying workouts means never getting used to doing the same thing over and over. And having a group of people that always push and encourage you to do new things is by far better than any workout or exercise program I've ever been a part of. I've played sports my whole life and CrossFit has made me a better athlete, even now, in my later years. If I had it earlier in my life, I would have been twice the athlete.

Through CrossFit, I was able to lose a fair amount of weight. I lost about 60 pounds in 5 1/2 months by doing 100% strict Paleo and two WODs a day. I was also in high school, so I had time to do that.
My philosophy has always been that you want to stick to technique. You need that well before you start putting weight on the bar. Good technique keeps you from hurting yourself, increases longevity, and keeps you out of the nursing home!

I found CrossFit in November of 2011, about a year after my baseball career at Georgetown University ended. At first, CrossFit was a way for me to regain that competitive edge and desire to always be better that all athletes have. A few months later, I experienced the 2012 CrossFit Games Open and got my butt handed to me. As soon as the last workout was over that year, I made Regionals my goal in 2013.
I was fortunate enough to qualify for the Northeast Regionals in 2013 and 2014. Along the way, I got my Level 1 certification and quickly found that I enjoyed helping other people chase their goals just as much as I enjoyed chasing my own. To me, there is no better feeling than seeing someone accomplish something they've never been able to do before. The size of the goal doesn't matter, it's watching hard work and perseverance come to fruition that makes it all worth it. Outside of CrossFit, I'm working towards a masters degree in Education and Special Education.

Fitness is my jam and CrossFit is my passion! I love CrossFit because it has created a community that focuses on helping people of all ages live healthier and more active lives.
One of my favorite things as a coach is being able to make positive impacts on each member's health and fitness. As a coach, I am caring, energetic, and loud at times. I aim to make each class fun, competitive, and I hope that each athlete comes back stronger and more confident than the last time. Outside of CrossFit I love to eat, travel, hike, snowboard, and hang out with friends and family.
